Seeing the good side of life…

Seeing the good side of life…

In these times of difficulties, when we need to counteract negativity with positivity, finding ways on how to do it is very important. It takes time and experience before we can somehow learn the skills on how to face circumstances that come our way. Our emotions play a main role in dealing with all these problems. So if we can control what we feel and change the way we look at every problem, we may realise that there will be something good out of it, which can help us to stay calm and think. If anxieties arise, I pray and talk repeatedly to God till it subsides, for trusting him in everything is what gives me strength to go on.

Often I see the good side of life in every struggle and problem that comes along. When I’m dealing with obstacles and challenges I always have it in mind that there is a reason why it happened. And I am always hopeful for a new beginning. My ways of brightening my outlook in life are reading some scriptures, listening to online Mass as well as listening to religious songs and reflecting on its lyrics. It is really helpful specially when you have nobody to talk to. Most of the time I share my problems with a close friend and sometimes I share it with family members.

Just recently, I had an emergency surgery on my right hip and got hospitalised for almost two months. I worried not about my health but my work contract that was about to expire in two months. Although we had agreed earlier to renew, I feared that my employer would change her mind because of my condition. All of those worries and fears dissolved when my employer was allowed to visit me. She told me not to worry, that God is with me and he has a plan. I have come to know also that my employer really cares for me. I thank God for everything.

To brighten my outlook in life aside from prayers when I’m alone, I would sing my heart out and play my guitar. On holidays, I would go to the beach, go hiking or ride a bicycle. When I’m with my friends during our days off, I would share with them my plans, my dreams and also my failures and heartaches, as they also share to me theirs. I would tell my trusted friends what is bothering me and I would ask them for help. I would also tell and seek advise from my employer. I would be honest in telling how I really feel. Thanks God, because he has sent me really good friends and a good employer.

I am also blessed to have priests and community members around me so that I can ask for their guidance and prayers whenever I face uncertainties and difficulties.

Learning how to deal with challenges takes time, persistence and a positive attitude no matter what your life situation is. But with the right mindset and practice, I was able to overcome them everytime and learn in the process. When life becomes challenging, I need to strengthen my faith, look for solutions, appreciate what I have, and get involved in Church activity. Everytime I have problems I always share to my close friend and sometimes to a priest to seek advice and it really helps me mentally, emotionally as well as spiritually.

No matter how hard things may go for me, if there is a problem, I always carry a positive outlook because I always feel that God is by my side. He is a miracle worker.

I will try to solve my problem myself because I prefer to learn. But at the sametime, I pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to enlighten and guide me. There are times I need to learn to rely on myself because it is not at all times that there are people beside me. The most important factor is to be optimistic, to see the good side life gives instead of brooding. Life is full of challenges. After a storm is a rainbow. I tell myself often it is not the end of the world and life is so short to waste on pessimism. The Lord will not give us a burden that he knows we can not handle.
