Hong Kong (SE): After seven years of juniorate formation, Sister Maria Assunta Zhong Liping of the Canossian Daughters of Charity, made her perpetual profession on December 27, the feast of St. John, during a Mass concelebrated by Father Benedict Lam Cho-ming and concelebrated by Jesuit Father Stephen Tong Chak-lung, Dominican Father Hyancinth He Yousun, and Father Peter Zhao Guitian at the Canossian Missions Chapel, Caine Road.
The around 200 participants—socially distanced—including Canossian Sisters, Lay Canossians, friends and relatives [on-line] came together at the chapel.
Sister Zhong grew up in a Catholic family. In her adolescence, she came to know about St. Magdalene of Canossa, the founder of the Canossian Institute. She was attracted by the the saint’s love for the abandoned children of the French Revolution. She joined the Canossian Institute in 2010 as postulant and was sent to the Philippines for her novitiate formation. She then made her first vows in 2014, in Hong Kong.
After signing the formular of profession, Sister Zhong was blessed by Father Lam and was then warmly received by Sister Virginia Wong Pui-ling, the provincial superior.
After singing of the Magnificat, Sister Zhong delivered the vote of thanks, expressed her gratitude to God for his faithful love and blessings. She shared about her path to the religious life and thanked the congregation, her parents, relatives and friends who journeyed and supported her all these years.
The Canossian Sisters expressed their thanks to those who joined the celebration and asked for continued prayers for Sister Zhong and all the Canossian Sisters.
