The Filipino community in St. Teresa parish, Prince Edward Road, held an Advent recollection on December 12 last year.
The celebration started with a Bible enthronement, followed by the recitation of Joyful Mysteries.
Father Dominic Phu Vu, the assistant parish priest, was invited to speak, and he told us why it’s necessary to take a “U-Turn” in our life.
He said that as we walk in this sinful world, our soul is stained with wrongdoings in our mind, and worldly things around us sometimes corrupt even our hearts. “Nobody is perfect, but for God’s love for us, he has given us the sacrament of confession and reconciliation. There’s just one way to find out. Let us take the “U-Turn,” said Father Phu. “The way of repentance and reconciliation is a part of our turning point to let God be with us again in our journey,” he said.
Father Phu left three questions for us to reflect on at the end. First, we are told to recall God’s blessings in our life, then think about how we could respond to God’s love and what we should change to welcome God in our life this Christmas. The three questions reminded us to walk along with God and let him be our guide.
Our life is an incredible journey, but not all roads are smooth so let us never forget there is always the possibility of a U-turn to help us be back on the right path.
It was a productive and blessed day for all.
