In memory of Mr. Wang

In memory of Mr. Wang

I appreciate our late Chinese teacher, Wang Chung-yee for his poems and Chinese calligraphy. We were so lucky to be his students at Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School. He also wrote the lyrics of our school song.

Last year I met him at Kowloon Tong. I said to him that he looked as good as before. He told me that he was already 80. I invited him to join our 1967 students’ group in the social media. He immediately agreed.

On the first of May, we had a group gathering. We invited him but he told us that he was fully occupied that day. Then we greeted him for his 80th birthday. He was so surprised that we still remembered his birthday.

I also remember when I graduated. I asked him for his advice. I told him that I would like to be a primary school teacher. He just said, “Why not start teaching now?” So I began to be a primary school teacher since 1967 till 2011 when I retired.

He is in heaven now. His funeral Mass was offered by Father Khong Kin-cheung, his former schoolmate. He was a parishioner of St. Teresa’s Church, Prince Edward Road.

May he rest in peace.
