Maryknoll Fathers’ School celebrates new term and anniversary

HONG HONG (SE): The Maryknoll Father’s School, Shamshuipo, marked it’s 64th anniversary and the start of a new school term on September 24. The anniversary Mass was held at the school hall and concelebrated by Father Joseph McCabe, the Asia regional superior of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, together with Father Paul Tam, parish priest of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Due to Covid-19 social distancing restrictions, only Form 1 students and student leaders attended in person while others joined via live streaming from their home rooms.

In his homily, Father McCabe stressed that learning is a lifetime process and that the purpose of education is to make a difference in the lives of students and faculty, and those with whom they are connected. He urged them to live out the school’s motto, Truth and Loyalty, noting the each has something to teach and learn from the other.

Student leaders—head perfects, house captains, club and society chairpersons, and class monitors—pledge to serve the school and fellow students by loyally, faithfully and humbly fulfilling the duties assigned to them. Father McCabe then imparted blessings upon them.

Bread and wine, celebration cards and candle holders handmade by students were offered during the liturgy of Eucharist.

The memorable event held the promise of a vibrant start for the new school year.
