It is notable to learn that St. Joseph Moscati grew up in a big Catholic family led by devout and pious parents This is a good reminder for parents (and godparents) about their important role and vocation in forming the minds and characters of children entrusted to them.

St. Joseph Moscati is an exemplary role model in applying and living out our faith and values through our profession and daily life. As a doctor he healed his patients of their physical ailments, but he also healed their hearts and souls. His ‘practical charity’ is something we can all aspire to. In so doing, he was—and we can all become—the ‘hands and feet of God’ to carry out his work in our midst.

Another trait worth emulating is St. Joseph Moscati’s practice of praying often for priests. He said “they are easily forgotten by the living, since Christians often think that they do not need prayers.”

What a thoughtful, sensitive and practical reminder! Let us keep praying for one another, especially for our priests and missionaries—that they remain steadfast, courageous and fruitful.
