B efore starting to pray, I will invite the Holy Spiri to come into my heart. I will make sure that there is enough time for me to pray without distractions and give it to God. My prayer time for me is my rendezvous with my Lord and I am mesmerised being in his presence. Then my heart is filled with peace and I will know the Holy Spirit is leading mae because of that peace. I find it easy to make a choice in my every decision in life because I always ask for his grace to have an openness in my heart and humility to accept his will for me. Trusting in God, total surrender and asking for his guidance are all important every time I pray. I know the Holy Spirit’s guidance is always for my own good.

W e may have experienced a lot of hardships and challenges in life and some are difficult to understand. We need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to lead us. I soak myself in prayers by first spending a few moments in silence with God. My heart should be free from anger, hatred and unforgiveness, otherwise it is hard to let the Spirit work within me. I have to be sensitive and open-hearted to the Holy Spirit working in me. When I have doubts on what to do, I always ask the Holy Spirit to calm me and grant me the wisdom to do what is right. Many times I get my answers through a verse in the Bible. I always depend on the guidance of the Holy Spirit and my heart is at peace.

When I pray sincerely with my purest intentions, not only for me but mostly for my family and others, then I can feel the Holy Spirit leading me and thoughts come from my heart and mind. It is easier to decide before a tough situaion when I invoke the help of the Holy Spirit.

If we open our heart to the Holy Spirit and pray with humility and faith, the Holy Spirit will lead us. We can ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit, that is, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23), to fall upon us. For me I also read the Bible daily and learn more about my faith. While reading the Bible, God is talking to me through the verses. We are however given free will because the Holy Spirit does not force us to receive his gifts if we do not want to. In everything I do I always ask for the guidance and enlightenment of the Spirit. It gives me serenity. Through his guidance I become a better person and I have better relationship with others. During my difficult times, I cling on to God. I put my trust in him. I pray to God asking his guidance and I feel much better. Sometimes when I encounter a discussion about faith, I ask the Holy Spirit to grant me the wisdom on what to say. And truly before I realise it words will just come out from my mouth.

The Holy Spirit leads me through my prayers. In my prayers I ask for the indwelling of the Spirit to be upon me. The Divine Paraclete gives us the courage. Jesus promised that he would send the Holy Spirit after his departure and give us guidance as John 15:26 says “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.”
If we want to act according to the will of the Lord, we need the guidance of the Spirit to guide us and to enlighten our mind.
In times of this Covid-19 pandemic we need all the more for God’s protection and I trust the Holy Spirit in me. Before any choices, I will pray to the Holy Spirit. Pentecost Sunday is here and let us remember the Holy Spirit in our hearts!

We need to make our choices every day, either to walk with the Holy Spirit and abide by God’s guidance or to do things our own way. As a Christian, I want the Holy Spirit to walk with me in my life and to guide me. It’s a lifetime decision that I surrender to him and be empowered by him. Whatever decision I make I pray to the Lord to fill me with his Spirit. With the power of the Holy Spirit, I can do what is seemingly impossible as God works through me. But If we want to receive the Holy Spirit, we first need to be willing to subject ourselves to God. We need to be open, humble and obedient in all circumstances.
I hope that the decision guided by the Holy Spirit will not lead me a trial. Yet if my decision brings me to a test, it can be God’s will. “For I know well the plans I have in mind for you—oracle of the Lord—plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). We just need more faith.
