
HONG KONG (SE): Sister Maria Teresa Kwok, of Canossian Daughters of Charity, died peacefully in her sleep at the Villa Bakhita Convent, Hong Kong, February 28 at the age of 81.
Born in Hong Kong on 4 February 1940, Sister Kwok she joined the Canossian religious family in 1962 in Hong Kong. making her first profession on 8 December 1965 and her final profession in Milan, Italy, in 1970.
Since 1975, after graduating from the school, she worked at Canossa Hospital, Hong Kong,, and the Elderly Home in Mong Ha and in Coloane, Macau.
Sister Kwok is remembered as a simple soul who was always a “jolly good fellow” to others wherever she was sent and in whatever work she was assigned. Her Canossian sisters remember that she readily saw humour in small things where others hardly even noticed and brought joy to their recreation times with her characteristic laughter.
As a nurse, she was quick and practical, and showed genuine availability in whatever task she assigned,.
In 2004, du to decling health and eyesight, she retired to the infirmary at Villa Bakhita. There she unceasingly offered her daily sacrifices and fervent prayers till the very end. In the early morning of Feb 28th, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
The Canossian Sisters ask for prayers for the repose of her soul and thank the readers, relatives and friends.
