Happy Year of the Ox

Chinese New Year isn’t just celebrated by the Chinese. In the Philippines we also celebrate the Chinese New Year since there is a big population of Chinese there. Their practices during the Lunar New Year is not so different from how we celebrate our New Year. There will be fireworks, a lot of street dancing, parties and foods.

As a Catholic, I also join the festivities during the Lunar New Year to know more about different cultures. I join the Masses of Thanksgiving for the Chinese New Year in our church as well.

We may have different religions and beliefs but we should respect the traditions of each other. After all we have only one and the same God. And to our Chinese brothers and sisters out there KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!!!

Blessings to all for the Lunar New Year.
