While I need to spend most of the time working for my employer on weekdays, on my rest days I will do some reflections on the Bible passages and pray the rosary in preparation for the coming of our Saviour Lord Jesus Christ. It is sad that I won’t be able to be with my family this special season because of the pandemic.
While we may miss big parties, we should not forget the true reason for Christmas is the birth of our Saviour.

I will spend my Advent in prayers and reflection. There is a prayer guide in Advent and I will follow it so I can stay focused and have a deeper reflection. I will also encourage myself, my family, relatives and friends to pray more so as to have a meaningful Advent.
Even when this season when socialisation is limited, I can still continue to preapre for Christmas. And I think part of the celebration for Christmas is the setting up of different Christmas decorations. Playing and sharing of Christmas songs will also add to the good mood and joyful spirit of Christmas.

In the past few weeks I feel so much pain about what is happening to the world—the pandemic and typhoons in the Philippines. So I shared whatever I could and extended my help to those affected by the calamities in our country. And I am still giving my small help up to the time of Advent.

In the beginning of Advent, I prayed with my groupmates at church, attended Masses and studied the Word of God in our group discussions and in the Bible classes in our parish on Sundays.
During weekdays, before I sleep, I spend some time praying the rosary.
This year my Advent preparation was affected by the pandemic as well as the natural disasters in the Philippines. I made a list of names that I pray for instead of a list of whom to give Christmas presents. I avoided the Christmas shopping spree and instead donate cash to help the typhoon victims.

The pandemic cannot deter my excitement of preparing for the Christmas season. Aside from prayers and reflections, I spent some time in setting up Christmas decorations, Christmas trees and lights.
In the past Advents, I needed to spend a lot of time preparing Christmas cards, wrapping gifts and prizes. But this year, I send cash to my family and relatives back home instead. They may buy food and share it with the neighbours in need specially those severely affected by the typhoons.

I spend Advent by attending Mass virtually even on week days. It will help me to experience the presence of Jesus in my life.
Because of the worsening pandemic, I may not be able to go to church but I will continue to attend online Masses until he comes this Christmas.
