This year, Salesians of Don Bosco China Province of Mary Help of Christians celebrated the Diamond Jubilees of the priestly ordinations of Father John Baptist Zen Shing-yeh (February 11), Father Joseph Lau Tsing-hung (August 4), and Father Peter Tsang Yong-ken (August 22).

Together with the people of God, with our society and the local Church in Hong Kong, we celebrate the fidelity of God and of his three servants whom the Lord called from nothingness to life, from discipleship to being sent as consecrated priests, for the salvation of people and greater glory of God.

They came to know the Salesians and Don Bosco very early in their lives and aspired to become Salesian priests.

Father Zen was born in Changsu City, Jiangsu province in 1931, and was ordained priest on 11 February 1960 in Hong Kong. He studied in the Salesian School and became an aspirant in Shanghai before entering the novitiate in Hong Kong in 1948.

He made his first profession in 1949 followed by philosophical studies at the Salesian Missionary House in Hong Kong. He did his practical training in Aberdeen Technical School for three years, then studied theology in Italy, finishing as a doctoral candidate.

He is a teacher of the young, a Sacred Theology and Scripture professor; has been a rector, novice master, school supervisor, school board member, provincial superior of the China Province (1989 to 1995), formator, spiritual director and confessor.

Now he is the vice rector of the Salesian Technical School in Tainan, Taiwan.

He studied philosophy in Salesian Missionary House, did his practical training in Instituto Salesiano- Macau; started his theological studies in St. Louis School, Hong Kong; and finished his theology in Italy.

He is a teacher of the young and held different roles in the province, among them: rector, provincial secretary, principal, school supervisor, school board member, formator, spiritual director and confessor.

He is now a member of the Salesian Community of St. Anthony’s House, Hong Kong, as the regional spiritual director of the Volunteers of Don Bosco.

Father Tsang was born in Shanghai in 1931, and ordained priest on 22 August 1960. He studied at the Salesian School and became an aspirant in Macau before entering novitiate in Hong Kong in 1948.

He made his first profession in 1949, studied philosophy in Salesian Missionary House, did practical training in Tang King Po School in Kowloon, started his theology in Hong Kong before being sent to Italy to continue his studies.

He rounded up his studies earning a PhD in Philosophy and Theology in 1974. He is a teacher of the young and a theology professor. He has served the province as rector, parish priest, school supervisor, school board member, formator, spiritual director and confessor.
