The One in Christ Prayer Group joyfully celebrated its 25th anniversary on November 22 at the Caritas Social Centre, Tai Wai, where it became its second home.
The day began with a Mass celebrated by Oblate missionary, Father Ronnie Gicalao at St. Alfred’s Church, with the renewal of commitment and a special blessing for the group. The priest exhorted the group to be united and know their purpose in joining the community. He said there will be problems and arguments but he encouraged the members to bear in mind that the real purpose of being in a community is to be one and united in Christ. After the Mass, Father Gicalao blessed Room 601, which is reserved for the group to hold their activities in the centre on Sundays.
After a simple celebration in the afternoon, the group’s spiritual director and founder, Sister Mary Cordero OSF, gave an inspirational talk and thanked God for the blessings received through the years as well as for the support of the members. The closing prayer was led by Nelsie Casa.
To show solidarity with the needy in the Philippines, the group gave up ordering anniversary T-shirts and donated the money to the victims of the typhoon calamities there instead. SE
