To have a youthful heart…

W e can feel young at heart by being happy, which is the fruit of loving ourselves more, living one day at a time and trusting in God’s protection every day. We must also have a healthy lifestyle. Being physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually fit helps us build up our self-esteem and self-love. Exercising can also train our body and clear our minds from negative thoughts.

I believe in the saying that there is no time limit in learning. Being an overseas worker, I learn a lot on how to deal with the people that surround me whether they are young or old. Mingling with the younger generation makes me young at heart. But whether one can stay happy depends on one’s outlook on life. Optimism makes us feel hopeful. Also I enjoy listening to music, go out with friends and enjoy chatting and sharing laughters with them. Another factor that keeps me young at heart is to keep myself updated about modern technologies and current events. One other important element is forgiveness as negative feelings can make a person age quicker. Above all, I need to pray to God for guidance and protection for my family and myself to lessen my worries.

Happiness makes us feel young. But happy people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best choices. To make myself happy, I just make the choices that make me feel good and be what I want to be always. I always smile and cherish life. Beautiful things in life are not usually seen but have to be felt. It is important to learn to appreciate good things and trust God that he will guide you through at all times.

First and foremost, love God. Have a healthy lifestyle like exercise, have balanced diet and enough sleep. Think positive and be stress free. Love yourself as Jesus loves you. Connect with friends and tell them you care. Love one another and learn to forgive the hurts inflicted on you. If you keep anger or deep resentment, your thoughts tend to be negative. At the end it may cause you illness. Sing and dance, enjoy the beauty of nature, breathe in fresh air. Develop a hobby that interests you. Love, joy and peace are the keys to have a youthful heart!

Staying young at heart for me is to enjoy life especially while I am young and letting all anxieties banish from my heart by praying and focussing on the lesson I learned from the past. Do not waste a day that is meant for enjoyment by being sorrowful about the plight of the condition of life. I won’t let my heart be consumed by the troubles of life that happen to me and to others. All these things are simply the nature of life. When things get rough I keep in my mind that my life is like a vapor and time is too short. So I won’t waste my time grieving and worrying about life’s trouble. Most of all I keep my faith stronger so my heart can see the light in times of despair.

I always choose to be happy. I want to feel lighthearted and at peace with everybody. I have a optimistic outlook in life. Even though I am tired at work, I will just wear a smile and enjoy being blessed with a job. Never think that you are old and incapable to work. Surround yourself with people with whom you feel comfortable with. Explore new things and attend seminars that will equip you with some skills. Do not allow yourself to be idle. Go out with friends. Laugh a lot with them. Expose yourself with outdoor activities like hiking. These for me are ways to have a youthful heart.

A youthful heart brings positive elements in life especially in this time where we are gripped by a mysterious pandemic. To stay youthful, be active spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. Practice your faith in good spirit. We need to nourish our souls as everything we do in a Christ-centred life keeps us young.

My secret of having a youthful heart is to love and always think that all people are born equal. I do not also plant grudges. I always remember to be grateful for the blessings from God and my loved ones. I also like to learn new things that are helpful to me. I enjoy life to its fullest. I enjoy vlogging (posting short videos) and I love to sing. I enjoy exploring around nature specially the sea. Smiling also makes me feel young at heart.
