Mass to remember a faithful missionary sister
Sister Yolande Moquin

HONG KONG (SE): Sister Yolande Moquin, of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (MIC), passed away peacefully in the MIC Mother House in Laval, in Quebec, Canada, on July 19 at the age of 94.

A Mass of the Resurrection for Sister Moquin will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 10,00am in the school hall of Tak Oi Secondary School, 8 Tsz Wan Shan Road, Kowloon, to be celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Ha Chi-shing, of Hong Kong.

Born the second of three children in Saint-Jerome, Quebec on 17 August 1926, Sister Moquin was a very positive, humorous and joyful person, and was loved and appreciated as a friend and mentor by all.

While still very young, she thought about the religious life.  After her studies, she was attracted to the serene and peaceful environment around her.

It was during a retreat that she received the grace of giving herself to God forever.

She entered the novitiate in 1948, made her first commitment in 1951 and her final commitment in 1954.  In 1957 she left for her first mission: Hong Kong.

In 1957 Sister Moquin was appointed the first principal of the secondary section of Good Hope School and, in 1970, of Tak Oi Secondary School. In 1980, she returned to Canada and served the Chinese community in Ottawa for some years.

If you would like to attend the Mass in person, please notify Tak Oi Secondary School on or before October 6 by phone at 2323 8504 for better arrangement and seat reservation. The MIC Sisters will arrange the seats according to the guidelines of the diocese.

Guests are requested to wear their masks and be seated by 9.45am on the day.

Please do not send flowers or wreaths.
