To maintain a good mood the whole day, the first thing I do when I wake up is to pray. I pray for the blessings for my family and loved ones, for my employer and lastly for myself. I give myself a smile before heading to my day’s work and while enjoying my cup of coffee. I think of my loved ones back home and tell myself, I am here because of them and I am happy because I have a job to sustain their livelihood. When I feel bored or lonely, I sing praise and worship songs and honestly speaking it enlivens me. Human as we are, feeling lonely or even in a bad mood sometimes do happen. During those times, I seek solace from God. I talk to him, ask him to strengthen me and bless me with perseverance. I do not allow disappointments to take their toll on me.

In order to have a good mood specially at work, I kick off my day with prayers, invoking Our Lord to bless my workplace, my employers and my family and of course myself. I fulfill my responsibilities according to the expectations of my employer. When I clean my employer’s house, I would treat it as though I am cleaning my own house. When my employer is angry with me, I keep quiet and wait until she cools off before explaining my side. This way I can avoid clashes. I do reason out with her sometimes when necessary. If she accepts, well and good. If not, I just pray for her. Most of the time our relationship runs smoothly. I also keep a healthy diet, relax my mind and try not to put stress on myself. Practising a healthy lifestyle and having enough rest can also lighten my mood.

I thank the Lord every morning before I begin my day. Then I do a 20-minute stretching exercises and meditation before starting my day’s activities. I remind myself to carry a smile and motivating myself in this way makes me feel good. I do my job patiently and enjoy it. I do not complain about my work and try to maintain a positive attitude wherever I go and whatever I do. I also communicate with my family to ease my boredom.

Most of the time I am in a good mood. I enjoy my work and I am grateful. I always feel blessed because I have an income whereas there are many seeking for employment but could not find a job. Saying thank you to the Lord is a habit instilled in me. I treat each day as a new challenge in life, another new blessing from our Lord. When I miss my family, I would chat with them via video call. Sometimes I would read their sweet messages to me. Listening to nice music is also a way to keep me in a good mood so that I can work with my heart and put more patience in my tasks. If I have time, I also enjoy reading a good book.
Most importantly, I need to have a positive thinking, a good inter-relationship with my employer and family members, as well as with my friends.

To keep a good mood I would look at the mirror and smile to myself before working. I affirm myself by saying I can do my job well. Cooking can be my problem sometimes so I tell myself I can cook and the food I prepare is delicious. I need to boost up my self confidence. Thank God my employer often likes what I cook. Also I prefer wearing pastel-coloured clothes because it brightens my mood. I may do little exercises so that my muscles can relax. I also remind myself of my purpose of being here in Hong Kong. When I think of how my job helps in augmenting the income of my family, I feel inner joy and it makes me keep my good mood.
