HONG KONG (SE): “For the first time in its history, the shrine will close its doors for some time,” the Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes, Bishop Olivier Ribadeau Dumas, announced on Twitter. The shrine temporarily closed its gates on March 17.
The closure was undertaken in line with French government measures to slow down the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in the country.
Nevertheless, the shrine’s 30 chaplains have begun special novena to Our Lady to pray for the world. It is to be broadcast live from the grotto of the apparition. Prayers offered at the shrine can be accessed live via Lourdes TV
