Pope Francis writes to people of northern Italy

HONG KONG (SE): Pope Francis published an open letter in Padua’s daily newspaper, Il Mattino, expressing his prayer and closeness to all those suffering as a result of the Covid-19 coronavirus, Vatican News reported on March 11.

He writes that there is “reason for Christian hope” because “even in these moments, God is speaking to us.”

Pope Francis called the situation “an opportunity to see what men and women of good will are capable of.”, Vatican News reported, and said he is thinking “of those who, in these days, are doing more than they should: the medical and paramedical personnel first and foremost.”

Good will, “combined with a strong sense of responsibility and cooperation with the appropriate authorities, becomes an added value that the world sorely needs,”, the pope wrote.
