Midwife and nurse returns to the house of the Father

HONG KONG (SE): The Sisters of St Paul de Chartres announced that Sister Germaine De Marie Tsui passed away peacefully at St. Teresa’s Hospital on 24 December 2019. She was 78-years-old.

Born in Canton, China, Sister Tsui entered the Sisters of St Paul de Chartres on 28 August 1958, making her first profession two years later. After completing a midwifery course in 1967, she was put in charge of the maternity ward at St. Paul’s Hospital from 1968 to 1977. She went to England in 1977 to take course in nursing.

For 38 years, from 1981 until her illness, she worked as a midwife and nurse at St. Teresa’s Hospital.

Well loved by colleagues and hospital staff, always with a ready smile etched on her face exuding friendliness and welcome, she was approachable and always available to help and render service.

Aside from her nursing duties, Sister Tsui never forgot that she was first of all a religious and was always eager to spread the love of God wherever she went.

In order to improve herself, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Religious Studies from the Holy Spirit Seminary in 2001.

Parishioners at St. Patrick’s Mass Centre in Wang Tau Hom, Kowloon, where she did pastoral work for many years, remember her for her loving concern and zeal for their spiritual growth.

A Mass of the Resurrection was be held on Friday, December 27, at Christ the King Chapel, Causeway Bay, followed by the funeral services at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Happy Valley. The family and sisters are grateful for prayers offered for her eternal repose.

May she rest in peace.
