Champions all at annual sports meet

HONG KONG (SE): Students, parents and teachers gathered at Siu Sai Wan Sports Grounds, Siu Sai Wan, for the 15th Annual Athletic Meet of Caritas Wu Cheng-chung Secondary School on November 27.

Vivian Kong Man Wai, the first Hong Kong fencer to win a World Cup title, was the officiating guest, while Yuk-fai Sze, vice-chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association, presented various awards.

Kong, a world-class fencer, explained to the students that medals and cups do not define success. She pointed out that losing in competitions is not a failure, but the beginning of success and added that exercise by itself is relaxing. 

School principal, Stanley Chung Chi-yuen, thanked Kong for officiating the event and expressed his appreciation of the officials present, all the participating schools, colleagues and students who had made the event a success. 

The Championship for Boys Senior and Boys Junior went to Po-wing Lee from 3A and Mathew from 4B respectively, while the Championship for Girls Senior went to Caroline from 6B and Girls Junior to Ella from 2B. Green House garnered the Overall Championship this year. 

In the inter-school competitions, the 4 x 100 metre relay (Boys) championship was won by The Endeavourers Leung Lee Sau Yu Memorial Primary School. First runner-up was Meng Tak Catholic School and the second runner-up was ELCHK Faith Love Lutheran School. 

The 4 x 100 metre relay (Girls) championship was won by The Endeavourers Leung Lee Sau Yu Memorial Primary School. First runner-up went to Raimondi College Primary Section and second runner-up to ELCHK Faith Love Lutheran School.

The event ended with cheers and laughter. Well done everyone!!
