
HONG KONG (SE): New executive committee members were elected for the 2019-2021 term of the Association of Religious Superiors of Women in Hong Kong. Sister Rossetti Lau of the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception is now chairperson; Sister Maria Teresa Li of the Chinese Sisters of the Immaculate Conception (CIC) is 1st vice-chairperson; Sister Regina But of the Daughters of Charity of the Canossian Institute is 2nd vice-chairperson; Sister Agatha Poon of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is now treasurer; Sister Michelle Reynolds of the Maryknoll Sisters is secretary, English, and Sister Maria Teresa Li CIC is secretary, Chinese.
Due to the unstable situation in Hong Kong, the 2019 Annual General Meeting was cancelled and John Cardinal Tong Hon, the apostolic administrator, gave permission for the association to elect executive committee members by ballot.
Every community of women religious in Hong Kong, except enclosed contemplative institutes, is represented in the association by the superior or authorised delegate.
The principle aim of the association the promotion of closer collaboration with all religious congregations in the diocese for the personal development of their members and greater apostolic efficacy according to their constitutions, vision, mission and spirit of each community, under the guidance of the Holy See and the Diocese of Hong Kong.
