Thoughts approaching 60

Thoughts approaching 60

As I approach 60, I find myself deep in reflection about this significant life change. While I am over 55 and have made some investments, I realise that I don’t yet feel emotionally ready to retire. The thought of leaving my job behind is both daunting and exciting. I am considering postponing my retirement by a few years, but I understand the importance of careful planning to ensure my financial stability.

To make this transition smoother, I am focusing on strategies to avoid financial strain during retirement. A crucial step will be reducing any outstanding debt while simultaneously increasing my savings. By taking these steps, I can create a solid foundation to support my lifestyle once I officially retire. This proactive approach will give me peace of mind and allow me to enjoy my post-retirement years without the burden of financial uncertainty.

As I envision what life will look like after my career ends, I aim to simplify my lifestyle. Embracing a simpler way of living will enable me to concentrate on what truly matters. I believe that by managing my spending more effectively, I can alleviate stress. A less complicated life aligns with my goal of maintaining good mental and physical well-being.

Spending quality time with my family in Baguio, Luzon, is perhaps the most important aspect of my future retirement. I look forward to cherishing those moments together, as I believe they will bring fulfillment to my retirement years.

While the prospect of retirement can feel overwhelming, I am reassured by the steps I am taking to prepare. By focusing on financial stability, simplifying my lifestyle, and nurturing family connections, I am setting the stage for a rewarding and satisfying retirement.

Although I may not feel completely ready yet, I am optimistic about the opportunities that await me in this new chapter of life.
