MANILA (RVA News): The Philippine Movement for Climate Justice, together with Radio Veritas Asia, will host a regional webinar on September 23 to promote a faith-based approach to renewable energy and the energy transition across the Asia-Pacific region.
Entitled “Light for Our Common Home: Accelerating a Catholic-Led Renewable Energy Transition in Asia Pacific”, the webinar will launch a project designed to help Catholic communities—particularly in the Philippines and Indonesia—develop community-based renewable energy transition plans inspired by the vision of Laudato Si’.
The 90-minute regional webinar will take place during the Season of Creation, observed annually from September 1 to October 4, and will bring together Catholic leaders, Laudato Si’ Animators, religious communities, educators, climate advocates and other participants from across the region.
The webinar will provide participants with a faith-informed introduction to renewable energy and energy transition planning, while highlighting practical community-level initiatives from the Philippines, Indonesia and elsewhere in Asia-Pacific.
The regional webinar will help Catholic communities share experiences, learn from one another and collaborate on renewable energy and environmental action. It will also encourage cooperation between Catholic and interfaith groups across Asia-Pacific.

Participants will also be encouraged to begin developing renewable energy transition plans at parish and school level within their respective communities.
Ian Rivera, National Coordinator of the Philippine Movement for Climate Justice [Asia Pacific], will discuss regional data, policy developments and community-level initiatives for energy transition.
Sister Ida Ferrao from India will share the experiences of religious communities in ecological conversion and renewable energy action.

The webinar is scheduled for September 23 at 5.00pm Manila time, which corresponds to 4.00pm in Jakarta, 6.00pm in Seoul, 7.00pm in Sydney and 9.00pm in Auckland.
A second regional webinar is planned for Laudato Si’ Week in May 2027, continuing efforts to encourage Catholic communities across Asia-Pacific to take concrete action towards a clean and sustainable energy future.
