St. Theresa’s Church Gym was filled with gratitude and joy on August 16, as parishioners gathered to celebrate a double milestone: the 75th birthday and 48 years of priesthood of Father Bernardo Cervellera PIME.
The celebration was jointly organised by the parish pastoral council and the religious community of St. Theresa’s — a fitting tribute to a priest whose life has been marked by dedication, humility, and deep love for the Church.
Born in Italy on 20 August 1951, Father Cervellera answered God’s call to the priesthood and has spent nearly five decades serving God’s people. For 48 years, he has baptized, blessed, counseled, and accompanied countless families, offering the sacraments and a steady, faithful presence through every season of life. As one of our spiritual directors, his courage, knowledge, and wisdom have guided us to walk faithfully in our spiritual journey.

The event was both festive and heartfelt. The gym was decorated with flowers and banners, and the programme included a Thanksgiving Mass, heartfelt testimonies, music, and a fellowship meal. Members of the parish pastoral council and the religious community led the program, expressing appreciation for Father Cervellera’s tireless service, pastoral wisdom, and welcoming Italian warmth—qualities that have made him feel truly at home in the parish.
In his message, Father Cervellera thanked everyone for their prayers and support. He reflected on God’s faithfulness over 75 years of life and 48 years at the altar, sharing that every day of priesthood has been a gift and an invitation to serve with joy.
As the parish community celebrated, the spirit was one of thanksgiving—for a life poured out in ministry, for a shepherd who continues to guide with gentleness, and for the blessing of having Father Cervellera among us.
Ad multos annos, Father Cervellera! May God continue to grant you health, strength, and joy in the years ahead.
