HONG KONG (SE): The Diocesan Vocation Commission organised a series of workshops at St. Benedict Church, Sha Tin, from September 10 to 12, highlighting the importance of shared responsibility and collaboration among various ministries in promoting vocations. The event also aimed to exchange effective strategies and pastoral approaches for accompanying and guiding those discerning their vocation in life.

The workshops featured a visiting team of vocation promoters from the Philippines, who shared their rich experiences and practical insights. The guest speakers included Father Randy de Jesus, executive secretary of the Episcopal Commission on Vocations of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines; Salesian Father Jayson David, rector of Don Bosco Technical College, Mandaluyong; and Sister Cheryl Ebarial of the Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo. Each speaker presented inspiring success stories, challenges faced, and creative solutions drawn from their ministry in vocation promotion.

Key topics discussed during the sessions included pastoral care for young people, ways to foster a culture of vocation within communities, the effective use of social communication in vocation promotion, and the value of collaboration among different Church organisations.

The participants also explored the vital partnership between diocesan vocation promoters and religious congregations in nurturing future vocations.

The workshops gathered participants from various religious congregations, diocesan institutions, and pastoral sectors, who actively contributed by sharing their experiences and best practices. The three-day encounter strengthened mutual understanding and underscored the shared mission of building a vibrant culture of vocation in the Church of Hong Kong.

The talk was supported by the Serra Club of Hong Kong which offered simultaneous interpretation service.

The three-day workshop concluded with a Mass concelebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Ha Chi-shing, Father de Jesus, Father David and other priests.
