As I walk towards the church to attend the Mass, I am already praying to ask for the help of the Holy Spirit. I am calling the Holy Spirit to help me relax and clear my thoughts. As I enter the church I continue to pray before the Mass begins. Attending the recitation of the Holy Rosary before the Mass is a powerful form of prayer, as I remember Mama Mary and how she prays to God. Another method I do is to turn off or avoid checking gadgets and time. In my prayer time I am doing the same.

To avoid being distracted during Mass or prayer time, what I do is I keep my phone in silent mode and will merely focus to the prayer time and give my full attention to the priest during the whole course of the Mass and I used to clear my mind and set other things aside. The Mass is a banquet where we are invited by Our Lord to join him. It is important that these moments are set for him.

I always ask God for wisdom and his help in working through all the isuues that causes distraction. I start my prayer by recognising and placing myself in God’s presence.
In this age where technology or the social media is the greatest distraction, I disconnect entirely myself from it throughout the day. I focus myself on God, as I pray in a quiet place, with a purpose, and lastly praying by making personal conversation with God. I talk to him, tell him my problem, my worries, how thankful I am for all his blessings. I say my contrition for the times I have offended him. I pray too for my family and those in need of my prayers. After that I remain still and listen to what he has to say.

While inside the church I pray, I will close my eyes to avoid distraction. After my prayer, while the Mass has not yet started, I look straight at the tabernacle or crucifix on the altar. I talk to God while waiting for the Mass to start. I will not talk to anyone during the Mass. And, of course, I will turn off my cellular phone so as not to make any noise and distraction while attending Mass or even during prayer time.

I will ignore all the issues in my life and just focus on my faith and what I am praying for. During the Mass I do not look around. I just focus my eyes on the altar or pray silently. I condition myself not to entertain any other thoughts or even problems. This is my hour with the Lord. Other matters can be set aside. I set a time for my prayers. I usually stay in a quiet place or in my room after finishing my duties at work and do my prayers. It is a great help when we put a crucifix or a sacred image on our desk or an altar if we have room.

To avoid being distracted during Mass or in my prayer time, I focus on my main purpose of listening to the Word of God specially during the homily.
