For the first time in 200 years, there was no Christmas Mass at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France. The cathedral was ravaged by a fire which destroyed the structure’s fire, parts of the roof and vault in April (Sunday Examiner, 21 April 2019).
Monsignor Patrick Chauvet, the rector of the cathedral told The Associated Press there that there is a 50 per cent chance the cathedral could be saved. He said restoration work is not likely to begin until 2021. Christmas Mass was celebrated at nearby Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois, Agence France Presse reported. Photo: CNS/Reuters
