HONG KONG (SE): Saint Francis University [SFU] has formalised a partnership with the Hong Kong Computer Society [HKCS] through a Memorandum of Understanding signed on March 25. The collaboration aims to enhance cooperation over the next three years in areas such as IT talent development, joint curriculum initiatives, and applied research, with a particular focus on strengthening IT education and the industry landscape in Hong Kong.
Following the signing, preparations commenced with the establishment of the SFU-HKCS Student Chapter on campus, making SFU the first university to set up such a chapter in partnership with HKCS.
The MoU was officially signed by Professor Anthony Chan, the dean of the Yam Pak Charitable Foundation School of Computing and Information Sciences at SFU, and Dave Chen, the president of HKCS. The signing ceremony was attended by Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, SFU president; provost professor, Annie Bligh; Joanna Kwok, the head of the Industry University Partnerships Office; Paul Hodgson, adjunct lecturer at the School of Computing and Information Sciences; among other distinguished guests.
The partnership will focus on areas like industry-oriented curriculum development, internship opportunities, and joint research projects.
