As an overseas Filipino worker, I have the privilege of caring for my employer’s home, but my role extends beyond those walls. This Season of Creation, I want to share my story and the importance of environmental protection, emphasising that it requires cooperation and sacrifice from all of us.
In the heart of the city, I see the daily struggles of our environment: overflowing trash bins, plastic waste, and the need for conservation. Encouraged by my passion for the earth, I took it upon myself to collect recyclable waste from my employer’s home. Every day, I sort through the trash, ensuring that plastic, paper, and glass are properly recycled. It may seem like a small gesture, but every little action counts. It reflects my commitment to preserving the beauty I see outside, from the trees lining the streets to the vibrant gardens blooming in the community.
Sharing environmental news on my Facebook page is another way I contribute. By posting articles and insights about climate change and sustainable practices, I aim to raise awareness among my friends and family back home. I believe in the power of information: the more we learn, the better equipped we are to make a difference. I encourage my peers to minimize waste and embrace eco-friendly practices, hoping that our combined efforts can lead to meaningful change.
I like hiking with my friends. Each time we set out on a hike, we make a point to clean up after others while enjoying the beauty of nature. It saddens me when I spot these bottles and other trash cluttering the landscape, as they not only mar the breathtaking views but also pose a significant threat to local wildlife and ecosystems.
This Season of Creation, let’s do what we can do for our planet. It’s not just about individual actions; it’s about creating a collective consciousness that prioritizes our environment. Even if our sacrifices seem small—like using reusable bags or conserving water—they build momentum for a greater cause.
Together, we can foster a culture of care for our Earth. Let’s cooperate, share knowledge, and actively make sacrifices for a healthier planet. As a global community, our solidarity can create waves of change, ensuring a brighter future for generations to come.
