On October 26, the One in Christ Prayer Group commemorated its 30th anniversary at St. Alfred’s Church, Tai Wai, with a gathering themed “Journey of Faith: Running the Race with Endurance,” inspired by Hebrews 12:1-2.

The day began with a Mass officiated by Father Roland Jablonski, OFM, rector of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel. Prior to the conclusion, members recited their renewal of commitment prayer and received blessings from Father Jablonski.

After Mass, members transformed the hall with elegant white and green balloon decorations and prepared a delightful spread for attendees. By 2:00pm, guests from various communities arrived, ready for fellowship over a shared meal. Coordinator Jacqueline Punggos welcomed everyone, followed by an opening prayer and food blessing led by Deacon Stebin Thomas, omi.

The programme commenced with a candle-lighting ceremony honoring the Blessed Image of the Jubilee Cross, accompanied by the Bible Enthronement and a Gospel reading from John. Reflecting the theme, a large lighted candle symbolised Jesus as the Light of the World, celebrated by the songs “Jesus, We Enthrone You” and “Pilgrims of Hope.”

A video chronicling the group’s history was played, complemented by messages from former members who had migrated abroad. Sister Mary Cordero, osf, the group’s founder, delivered an talk encouraging those present to uphold their faith.

Guest speaker Teresa Siu shared insights on employer-helper relationship, resonating deeply with the audience.

The event concluded with members receiving certificates of recognition and a finale performance of songs.
