Shades of gold and red and orange
By our Creator God, he did arrange
Golden filigree, edging the darkened clouds
Fiery colours of a sunlit sky abounds.
Soft, golden hues as the daylight fades
Sometimes brillant
Other times gentle
Once in a while, just the merest haze.
Each day the palette changes
Light dims and darkness exchanges
Soft glow of the even sky
For night’s descending and day says goodbye.
What new colours will the morrow bring
As day creeps away and nightbirds sing?
I wait in anticipation for the colours to play
And the evening sky’s grandeur to display
